Understanding the Process
If you hold a CDL or work in a safety-sensitive DOT-regulated position and have violated drug or alcohol testing regulations, federal law requires you to complete a SAP evaluation before returning to duty.
A Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a licensed clinician qualified under 49 CFR Part 40 to evaluate employees, recommend education or treatment, and conduct follow-up evaluations to determine when you're ready to return to work.
A comprehensive assessment of your situation, history, and needs.
We recommend the appropriate level of education or treatment based on your evaluation.
After completing recommendations, we conduct a follow-up to clear you for return-to-duty.
You receive your SAP report and can return to your safety-sensitive position.
Important: You cannot return to a safety-sensitive DOT position without completing the SAP process. We make it as smooth and fast as possible.
